We are Vita Pura, Latin for "the pure life." We are a Catholic student group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, under the auspices of Badger Catholic and the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi.
We employ the Church's sacraments, prayer, and social doctrine to grow in holiness by pursuing the pure Christian life — particularly by fostering simplicity and by growing in awareness of our relationships with each other, with our neighbors around the world, and with God's Creation.
We aim for a revolution in the human heart for the restoration and growth of authentic human culture. We strive for the promotion of traditional morality, meaningful relationships between local ecosystems and communities, economics on a human scale, and simple living. We seek to foster a culture of production, not consumption; of being, not having.
Our agenda is purely cultural, not political. We are committed to reforming ourselves first and foremost as individuals, as an intentional community, and as a parish. We are thoroughly Catholic, being firmly rooted in Church teaching.

We meet once a week (Wednesdays at 7AM) to discuss how we can live more simply, usually centering the conversation on a reading and reflection posted on this blog. From there we set resolutions for ourselves and share what we learn with others. We meet for fellowship dinners to grow in community and learn about environmental threats more in depth. Finally, we are working on larger projects around St. Paul's, such as an energy audit and a composting program.
